Getting psyched for a new venture in the cartooning career! Main stream, comic strips, fun for the whole family! Ideas are coming at me from everywhere. Fun stuff! And I figure if I'm having a ball, readers will too. Check out Universal UClick's GoComics page tomorrow, and we'll see if they are really going to do it. Well, they signed a contract so I am pretty sure they will, but I never get my hopes up until I see a thing actually happen. Fingers crossed!

It's coming! My debut in mainstream syndicated online comics. It's going to be a lot of added work to my schedule but this will be the most fun I've had in cartooning in a long time. I'm used to the grind after cranking out 25 cartoons a month for 35 years; that's not a concern. I'm just hoping it will become popular with America and then the world! You never know in this business, it could happen! Here's a free sample.
My new comic feature Looks Good On Paper is set to launch next week on Universal Uclick's GoComics! There will be new comic strips, along with a sprinkling of cartoons from my 39 years as a professional magazine, greeting card and editorial newspaper cartoonist.
I've always wanted my own comic strip feature, and I've tried with a few attempts at syndication in the past. This time they came to me and asked if I wanted to create a feature for their GoComics online service. I said, "Sure, why not?" ( After 39 years, they must think I've finally got the hang of this cartoonistry stuff, I guess! ) The feature will showcase the kind of humor that got me where I am today. Zany, off-the-wall, unpredictable and going where few cartoonists venture, yet staying suitable for all ages, young or old. That's a bit of a new twist, but not a stretch at all, since I've always been a real choir boy at heart. There's no telling where the feature will go, and I have lots of new ideas filling my head about cool things to do! Picture a variety show on the comics page. They gave me carte blanche and I intend to take full advantage of it. I haven't been this excited about a project in ages and I hope I can get readers excited too about what a modern day comic strip can be. After all, I've been thinking about it for four decades! The Reuben Journal ad for our Great Lakes Chapter of the National Cartoonist Society is finished! This is the fourth one I've put together for the gang and it was a pretty smooth task this time. A few stragglers as always ( cartoonists are notorious procrastinators ) but we're done and ahead of schedule! The Journal is a publication for the Reuben Awards weekend, which will be held in Washington DC on Memorial Day weekend. A fun time for all concerned, nominated or not. Thanks to my cartooning bros and sisses for trusting me with the job of representing the chapter. Hope you like it. — Dan Collins
This morning I was informed that an old friend and fellow cartoonist passed away. Roy Doty was a member of the Great Lakes chapter of the National Cartoonist Society as am I. One may argue the merits of professional associations but when you get the chance to become a friend of your artistic idols there is no greater benefit. He will be cremated immediately I'm told, so let's all raise a Viking toast to a dear departed brother in arms. Keep 'em "kerfluffled" in the after life Roy! Dan photo shared from Paul Combs
The next collection of e-toons is more than halfway done! This year I want to see how many books I can produce. Publishing is a magical ability to connect with others through your art. To do it at will with epub books is a dream come true for a cartoonist.
The Daily Cartoonist gave me a blurb for the new book. Lots of news for the cartoonist in your house there!
